Bio and martial arts background

Carmichael Simon is a young and accomplished and versatile martial artist/stuntman/entertainer who practised for over 25 years. His disciplines in martial arts are Tae Kwon Do, WuShu Southern Shaolin and Northern Shaolin Kung Fu.

As a junior, Carmichael was very succesfull on the tournament circuits. He has been a NASKA champion from 1990-95 and an International Champion since 1992.

A great support to Carmichael was his mentor Grandmaster Jhoon Rhee and others such as Steven Ho, Francis Pineda and Charlie Lee. They helped Carmichael into becoming the only Junior and Adult competitor to fuse together both soft and hard style in one performance.

Carmichael was and is also important as an innovator. He was considered by many to be the first one to put acrobatick kicks in Sport Karate Forms since 1991. In 1994 Carmichael was the first to do the 720 HOOK KICK in Sport Karate Competition, 1994 Battle of Atlanta. By that time, Carmichael gained his place in the Sport Karate History.

In 1995 Carmichael moved to the adult competition ranks and was asked to join Team Paul Mitchell after making even more fame as being part of the Metro Allstar Competition Team. Still combining martial arts with acrobatics, Carmichael won many more titles, including the Triple Cown Award. During tht year, he evolutionized our game bu the format and 'SuperCombo' (540-Twist-540-Aerial).

Some of the tournaments he won:
Grand Slam
Bluegrass Nationals
US Open
Battle of Atlanta
Otomix Grand Slam

Besides being a martial artist Carmichael has diversified his skills in various areas such as hi-hop dancing. In the videogame 'The Untouchable', Carmichael is portrayed as a martial artist who combines fighting with dancing.

As a martial artist/actor, Carmichael was a great inspiration for the likes of Jon Valera, Steve Terada, David Douglas, Mike Chaturantabut and Daniel Sterling. Carmichael is also very active not as a martial artist or actor, but also as a trainer in dance and hiphop. He has now been a trainer to various celebrities in the martial arts and hip-hop communities.

Anybody who has seen Carmichael as Liu Kang on MK: The Live Tour and as 'Kid' Carmichael on WMAC-Masters knows how good Carmichael is, and can't wait to see more. Carmichael truly deserves the title: Living Legend taught by Grand Master Jhoon Rhee.
