Mark Dacascos is the son of Al Dacascos, a famous martial artist. His first 6 years he lived with his grandparents, but after that he moved to his father and stepmother, and than his training began. he entered his first tournament at the age of 7. he moved through the whole world and went back to Hawai at the age of 18. In the meanwhile he's been studying Drama and been in gymnastics teams.
Besides being busy travelling and studying, martial arts were part of his life. He practised Wun Hop Kuen Do Kung Fu, and won his first tournament at the age of 9. After that he also studied Chinese Judo. Capoeira is now one of his specialties, and shows it in movies such as "Only the Strong".
He's had many teachers: Al Dacascos and Malia Bernal (his parents), Muo-Hui Shen (Shaolin), Sifu Bill Owens (Capoeira), Mestre joselito 'Amen' Santo (Capoeira), Prof. Jiang Hao-Quan (WuShu) and Gerald Teague (Western Boxing).
At the age of 18 Mark had competed in over 200 tournaments. There's a partial list of stats and achievements below:

That he became an actor was coincidene. He was noticed on the street, and asked for audition. he did so, liked it and wanted to be an actor, which he is now.
He is now married to actress Julie Condra and they have a child together; Makoalani Charles Dacascos.
