Bio and martial arts background Herb Perez grew up in a violent neighbourhood, which was his motivation for training. After reading the book: Flying Tigers" he found his parssion; Tae Kwon Do. Herb Perz is the most successfull Tae Kwon Do athlete. He started training at the age of 12, under Ki Chung Kim in Hoboken, NJ. He turned out to be a champion competitor very soon. His biggest disappointment was losing the selection rounds in 1988 and the chance to compete in Koreo with the Olympic Team. He decided to try again in 4 years. In 1992, at the age of 32, which is "very old", he did join the US Olympic TKD team. Stats: 1992 Gold at the Olympics, and Black Belt's Male Co-Competitor of the Year 1985-88 Gold at the Pan American Tae Kwon Do Championships 1987 Gold at the World Cup 1986 Gold at the US Olympic Festival Herb still trains many champions, through training, books and videos. |
