Bio and martial arts background

Shihan Steven Seagal has a 7th degree in Aikido and is Shinto Priest.

At the age of 7 Steven discovered his passion for Aikido and started training in a dojo in Garden Grove. Fumio Demura became his first teacher. He gained his first dan in 1974. When he was 19, he went to Japan to train with the masters in Zen, Buddhism and Aikido. There he married the daughter of the owner from the dojo where he trained.

In 1982, he returned to the USA and opened a dojo there. After a demonstration Steven was discovered for Above the Law, which meant instant stardom. He is now very popular (and hated by some) for his cool action movies and his great martial arts status. He is the only caucasian who is so skilled in the art. There are also rumours that Steven has worked for the CIA and that Above the Law was almost autobiographical, which most people doubt, but nobody knows for sure................

Besides martial arts, music is also a passion of his. Steven promotes peace and nature.
