Bio and martial arts background
Bolo studied under many amrtial arts masters for martial arts and acrobatics. He also did weight training. Eventually he became a mainland China powerlifting champion. As Yang Sze he swam from China to Hong Kong and started teaching bodybuidling there. His martial arts specialty is Tai Chi.
At that time the "Shaw Brothers" had noticed him. That's how he started as an actor. Mostly as a muscular bad guy. Later Bolo met Bruce Lee who wanted him for the part of 'Bolo' in 'Enter the Dragon'. Bruce and Bolo planned more movies together and fights, which would never happen because of Bruce's death in 1973. The movie would have been 'Game of Death'.
After many Hong Kong movies, Bolo's big break came after being the lead bad guy in Bloodsport with J.C. van Damme. more movies would follow and many blockbusters. In Shootfighter, Bolo was a good guy, which portrays his real character better, since Bolo is a great man and father.
One day, he hopes to make a sequal to Enter the Dragon with himself as the hero. |
