PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Valeri Bure scored in overtime and Roberto Luongo stopped
40-plus shots for the third time in his last four starts as the Florida
Panthers defeated the Philadelphia Flyers, 4-3, on Thursday. Bure, who finished
with a goal and an assist to give the team lead in points with 24, beat
goaltender Jeff Hackett at the 2:56 mark of overtime to give his team its first
two-game winning streak since November 24. Luongo made 31 saves over the first
and second periods and finished with 46 stops, improving to 2-1-1 when making
40 or more saves. Nathan Horton had two goals and an assist and Mathieu Biron
chipped in with a goal and an assist for Florida, which halted a seven-game
road winless skid. Hackett surrendered two goals on seven second-period shots
and ended with 15 saves in defeat. John LeClair, Jeremy Roenick and Radovan
Somik each scored for Philadelphia, which suffered its third overtime loss in
its last four home games.
