stopped 20 shots for the Philadelphia Flyers in a 5-0 rout of the Montreal
Canadiens on Monday. LeClair, playing in his first game of the seasn since
suffering a preseason ankle injury, helped set up Michal Handzus early in the
second period for a 3-0 cushion and netted his first goal of the season midway
through the stanza. Esche made double-digit saves in the first period enroute
to his sixth career shutout. Mandzus added an assist and both Simon Gagne and
Marcus Ragnarsson chipped in with a goal and an assist for Philadelphia, which
leads the Atlantic Division with 10 points (3-1-3-1) and improved to 2-0-2-0
on home ice. Jose Theodore surrendered five goals on 39 shots in defeat for
Montreal, which has lost consecutive games after taking five of its previous six.
