Philadelphia Flyers 4, Vancouver Canucks 3 (OT)
======================================
PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Simon Gagne scored with nearly two minutes gone in overtime
to lead the Philadelphia Flyers past the Vancouver Canucks, 4-3, on Thursday.
Gagne, who set up Eric Desjardins late in the third period for a one-goal lead,
put a feed from Marcus Ragnarsson behind goaltender Johan Hedberg to help his
club extend its season-high winning streak to five games. Michal Handzus and
Mark Recchi each added a goal and Jeremy Roenick extended his point-scoring
streak to seven games with an assist for Philadelphia, which improved to 2-1-3
when tied after regulation this year. Robert Esche made double-digit saves in
both the second and third periods and finished with 29 stops to pick up his
fifth victory in as many starts. Hedberg was unable to stop the second shot he
faced in overtime, finishing with 23 saves in taking his first loss in five
starts this season. Jason King registered his sixth goal in his last six games
and Todd Bertuzzi tied the score at 3-3 with eight seconds left in the third
for Vancouver, which allowed four goals for the first time this year.
