PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Jeremy Roenick and Joni Pitkanen each scored on the power
play to help the Philadelphia Flyers double up the Carolina Hurricanes, 4-2, on
Friday, extending their unbeaten streak to 11 games. Roenick netted his
team-
leading sixth man-advantage tally in the first period and Pitkanen established
a 3-1 cushion midway through the second for his first power-play strike since
October 18. Tony Amonte and Claude Lapointe each added a goal and Kim Johnsson
chipped in with three assists for Philadelphia, which scored four or more goals
for the ninth time this year. Robert Esche turned aside 28 shots, including 17
in the third period, to raise his record to 7-1-2. Kevin Weekes made 25 saves
in defeat, falling to 0-1-1 against the Flyers this season. Eric Staal and
Jesse Boulerice each scored for Carolina, which dropped to 2-7-3-0 on the road.
