UNIONDALE, NY -- John LeClair had a goal and an assist as the Philadelphia
Flyers scored five times in the second period to defeat the New York Islanders,
5-1, on Saturday. LeClair evened the score at 1-1 with nearly four minutes gone
in the middle stanza and set up a power-play goal by Simon Gagne late in the
period for a three-goal lead. Mark Recchi scored his team-leading 10th goal of
the season and Jeff Hackett extended his unbeaten streak to six games with 16
saves for Philadelphia, which finished 10-0-2-0 for the month of November. Rick
DiPietro, who was pulled in favor of Garth Snow to begin the third period, made
13 saves on 18 shots in taking his fourth consecutive defeat. Janne Niinimaa
had the lone goal for New York, which has lost five straight by a combined
score of 18-4.
