Aurora Borealis, September 2002
I was sitting back readying the lx200 and accompanying four SLRs for a night of astrophotography up at the camp, getting more and more frustrated as darkness just would not arrive.  Around 9:00 I noticed a dome forming in the north all the way to the west engulfing the entirety of the big dipper.  All of a sudden, that light dome turned into vertical streaks up and down the sky, the lights danced until 3:30am and I watched it all.  Here are some photos.
27mm 40 second exposure, camera mounted to the scope.  Film was kodak LE400. 27 mm wide angle lens, 20 second exposure.  This film did a great job picking up the reds and pinks which were less visible then the green to the naked eye.
