Leonids, Nov 18, 2001 |
Stayed up all night with the Leonids, first several photos were not very good, but the meteor shower was amazing. I wish the photos reflected this. |

50 mm shot straight up, you can see a meteor trail right above the christmas tree (I think) in the left center of the photo. This was a 10 minute exposure piggyback on Kodak RG400. |

Nice 50mm shot of the orion nebula with two meteor streaks at the bottom of the photo under the nebula. Look closely to the upper left of the nebula and you can see whisps of "Barnard's loop". Shot 10 minute piggyback through the trees, sun coming up in the east. |

Nice long exposure shot (8 minutes) of Jupiter, christmas tree and the rosette (I think) off to the upper left. Note the meteor right in the center. 50 mm piggyback, kodak RG400. |

300mm piggyback shot at f/5.6, 20 minute exposure of deneb & the north american nebula. As you can see, guiding was off by a hair, probably 3 corrections missed. I've solved this problem and the next photos will be much better. At least there was some nebulosity in this unretouched photo. |
