Astrophotos from July 2002 vacation in Maine
I took a total of 7 rolls of film and got a few worth keeping, not a bad ratio!  The first night I was out, I tried hand guiding as the st-4 and I were not getting along, but the final two nights of vacation were almost cloud free and dry but somewhat windy.
M57, The ring nebula M51, the spiral galaxy
This was a pleasant surprise, the ring nebula, m51, in Lyra.  This was a 40 minute exposure just after twilight taken at prime focus on the 12" lx200.  The lab didn't print this one and it was only upon inspection of the negatives that I found it.
This was a 40 minute exposure of M51, the spiral galaxy and it's companion.  Unfortunately, the photo is underexposed, next time I'll try 90 or 120 minutes.  Taken on KLE400 film, prime focus on the 12" LX200.
M31, Andromeda Galaxy
Cygnus milky way
A 20 minute exposure of the great andromeda galaxy, M31. This shot was taken with an ordinary 200mm lens mounted on the lx200.  Film used was KLE400.  I started the shot at 2:50am, just as the first hint of daybreak was starting to creep in.
Cygnus milky way rising over the camp, 27mm lens, 10 minute exposure, KLE400 film.
Cygnus milky way
Cygnus milky way, 15 minute exposure through a 27mm wide angle lens at f/4, note the north american nebula and the butterfly nebula around gamma cygnus.
