DRINKING WATER + ENVIRONMENT = CANCER
Is the water that you drink contaminated?
If your not 100% sure, then read the information  below.
Can contaminated water cause  cancer?
Yes, contaminated water can kill you or  anybody you know just by drinking it.
Is  there a problem with removing contaminated water from the ground?
Yes, once the ground water has been contaminated, it will  never be absolutely clean again.
GOVERNMENT SUPERFUND SITES
Edward's Air Force Base, Southern California, is one  of hundreds of Contaminated Areas of Concern. It is located in Kern, Los Angeles  and part of San Bernadino Counties.
Cancer is  the second leading cause of Deaths in Kern County from 1990 to 1999. There has  been 9,380 people who have died from Cancer during this time frame in kern  county alone. That averages out to  938 people a year who have suffered this terrible death here in Kern County, CA.  This does not include there family members, friends or loved ones who also have  suffered and continue to do so. This is an epidemic and in my opionion the  Government has done nothing but cover up the truth.
Edward's Air Force Base is 1 out of 90 Superfine sites in  California during the time this information came available. There has been 424  hazardous waste sites reported on Edward's Air Force Base alone. These Hazardous  Waste Sites are called Area's of Concern. There are more being found and  reported practically every day.
Some of the Hazardous Waste that has  contaminated the ground water at Edward's Air Force Base is; Waste Oils.  Solvents, Volatile Organic Compounds, Petroleum Hydrocarbons, Rocket Fuel and  Heavy Medals. The chemicals that are found in these Hazardous Waste substances  are; Benzene, Ethyl benzene, 1, 3, 5-trimethylbenzene, Cis-1, 2-dichloroethene,  Chlorobenzene, Naphthalene, n-Nonane, n-dodecane, Toluene, 1,1,1-trichlroethane,  Carbon tetrachloride, Chloroform, 1,4-dichlorbenzene, n-Heptane, n-Decane, TVH,  Xylene (o,p,m), (TCE) Trichloroethane, and Arsenic to list a few.
Over 80% of the most serious hazardous waste sites in the U.S.  have adversely impacted the quality of nearby ground water. Ground Water  accounts for over 95% of the nation's available fresh water resources, and is  the drinking water source for half the people in the United States.
Contamination from Super fund Sites has already shut down supply  wells in at least 344 communities. There is a threat of ground water  contamination at 500 other super fund sites were wells are located nearby.
Edward's Air Force Base, which is used for  aircraft research and development, covers 301,000 acre's. Large amounts,  (millions of gallons) of jet fuel, diesel fuel, and gasoline have been spilled  and poor disposal practices have resulted in the release of volatile organic  compounds (VOCs) into the ground water table.
Other Contaminated areas includes several  abandoned landfills around the boarder line of Edward's Air Force Base and next  to the surrounding communities. These landfills are also leaching hazardous  waste into the ground water table.
There is approximately 13,800 employees,  several schools with thousands of students, and the base housing personal that  work, live and go to school at Edward's Air Force Base and they obtain their  drinking water from wells located within 3 miles of Main/South Base for the most  part. People may face a serious Health risk by drinking the water at Edward's  Air Force Base, and the surrounding communities as well. This is something that  the Government will not admit to, and point their Hippocratic finger at the  Tobacco companies. How dear they.
Over 22,570 gallons of jet fuel has been  extracted from floating on top of the ground water at Edward's Air Force Base.  This is not even a dent compared to how much is still in the ground water. If  this scares you, it should, because it's oh so very true. And not just at  Edward's Air Force Base, but hundreds of other Military  Installations.
Both the (EPA) Environmental Protection Agency and  (FED OSHA) Federal Occupational Safety and Health Agencies have both been sent  documents and reports concerning the Hazardous waste and poor practices in  cleaning up the Sites at Edward's Air Force Base. A report back from FED OSHA  has admonished any wrong doings at Edward's Air Force Base. One Government  Agency protecting the other, who gets hurt? Everybody, nobody is safe from  ignorance. Especially when the Government can do what ever they want, and do not  have to answer to anyone but themselves.
This astonishes me that the Government has  taken what I believe to be a COVER UP at Edward's Air Force Base and the  Thousands of Deaths in the surrounding areas of Edward's Air Force Base due to  Cancer.
It has been reported that clean up will take  several years to many decades. And even then, not all of the contamination can  be removed from the ground water.
IIt has been reported that as of 05-11-98, 88.1  million dollars has already been spent at Edward's A.F.B. and a plan to spend  over a quarter of a billion dollars over the next decade. Do you want to talk  about Government Fraud?
It is my professional opinion that the public be made aware of the  problems through every means possible. To many people have already died, and  many more are dying. The Government can not keep this covered up any more.
Iff you are interested in finding out if you live near a  contaminated ground water table, then search  www.epa.gov/superfund/oerr/impm/products/nplsites/0902725n.htm. This should put  you into a National Priority listing. You can then look up any area you want. Or  just search EPA, or Super fund Sites and surf through the pages.
If you haven't seen the movie, Civil Action, go see it. It is a  true documentary dealing with contaminated drinking water. Or more recently,  Erin Brockovich is a new release based on a true documentary of how PG&E was  contaminating the ground water with Hazardous chemicals around Barstow,  California and hundreds of people were and are dying from cancer. PG&E a 28  Billion dollar Corporation tried to cover up their release of the contamination  into the ground water, just like Edward's Air Force Base has and is doing.
Henry David Thoreau is quoted as stating (1861)  "Thank God man cannot as yet fly, and lay waste the sky as well as the  Earth".
John Mitchell Quinn is quoted as stating (1998)  "Thank God man cannot as yet colonize on other planets, and lay waste to them as  he has the Earth".
