Science Fiction Gallery II

All of the figures on this page are (more or less) "True 25mm" in scale, as opposed to the more popular 28mm scale popularized by Games Workshop, and have mostly been used to play StarGrunt II, produced by Ground Zero Games.

NSL Troopers, from GZG. They were an experiment that was at least partially successful. I painted them a dark green, drybrushed them a lighter gray-green, and then used an art sponge to apply small splotches of brown and tan. It was quick, it was simple, and it more-or-less worked. The results lose something in extreme close-up like this, but they look fine on the table -- although this technique does work much better on bigger things, like buildings and vehicles. The figure on the left is an officer, as shown by the gold triangle...I needed some easy way to distinguish the officers from the troopers.

More GZG figures, these are the powered armor figures that accompany the NSL troopers above. Painted in exactly the same way, including the gold triangle to mark the officer.

GUG United Nations soldiers. White and blue seemed the most appropriate colors. The number on the two helmets is from a GW Imperial Guard decal set.

Two Leading Edge Games "Future Warriors", from their Terminator line. I really need to repaint these figures...the uniforms shown above took forever to paint, and I don't think that the result is very good. They look too busy, too loud. Someday soon I'm going to have to break out the Pinesol. I can do much better nowadays.

A pair of Denizen Federation marines, available from Stone Mountain here in the U.S. The figure on the right has been slightly modified: I turned his laser rifle into a plasma gun by using a piece of some GW plastic weapon. They've been painted in some sort of bizzare semi-urban camoflage scheme, which suffers when you see it in an extreme close-up like this. It's a little rough, but I like the way it looks on the table.

Two "High Command" troopers, painted up as the Powered Armor support of the Denizen figures above. The one on the left is an officer, the one on the right is the standard trooper. I really like this PA, as it has all the qualities that I look for: big, bulky, and bristling with weapons. I particularly like the SMG built into the trooper's left hand.
