06 December 2002

bmibaby is looking forward to a scorching summer next year with the introduction of daily services from East Midlands Airport to Pisa for Florence in Italy, the second Italian destination for bmibaby. The new route goes on sale today as bmibaby announces its international schedule for summer 2003. Flights on domestic and Channel Islands routes will be launched and on sale in the New Year.

Cardiff International Airport sees significant expansion with the announcement of three new International destinations: Cork, Munich and Palma. Cork and Palma will be served on a daily basis whilst Munich will be served four times a week from Wales.

As well as the introduction of three new routes from Cardiff International, frequencies on existing routes have also been increased meaning that bmibaby will operate almost 40 international flights a week from the airport. From March, Malaga will be operated on a daily basis, upped from five flights a week, whilst Milan, currently served once a week, will be served five times a week. Three aircraft will be serving Europe from Wales when bmibaby adds an additional aircraft at its Cardiff base from March to cope with demand.

For the summer, East Midlands passengers will see the re-introduction of a daily service to Ibiza between 14 June and 30 September plus an increase in the frequency of services to Murcia, Nice and Prague. In the height of summer, when the Ibiza service is operating, bmibaby will fly 170 international flights from East Midlands Airport every week.

bmibaby will be serving a total of seventeen international destinations from East Midlands Airport for the summer: Alicante, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Brussels, Cork, Dublin, Ibiza, Malaga, Milan, Munich, Murcia, Nice, Palma, Paris (Charles de Gaulle), Pisa, Prague and Toulouse. From Cardiff International Airport six International destinations will be on offer: Alicante, Cork, Malaga, Milan, Munich and Palma.

Tony Davis, managing director of bmibaby said:

"We are pleased to be announcing routes for our second summer of operation. Pisa, which is a brand new route for us, will be operating from East Midlands Airport from March and we are confident that it will become one of our most popular routes. We have significantly increased capacity on many destinations and have re-introduced Ibiza, which was a very popular route for us last year.

BUZZ FLIES SEVEN ROUTES FROM NEW BASE IN BOURNEMOUTH

buzz, the UK's third largest low-cost airline, has unveiled an impressive route network out of its new base at Bournemouth which includes both domestic and mainland European destinations. It marks the first time buzz has ever offered a domestic schedule within the UK. The seven routes include Amsterdam, Belfast, Bergerac, Glasgow-Prestwick, Malaga, Murcia and Paris (CDG)*. Fares from as little as £19 (one way inclusive of all taxes) go on sale today at www.buzz.co.uk or at the call centre on 0870 240 7070. Flights commence from March 2003 (see notes to editors for full details.

buzz will put over 750,000 low cost seats into the market from Bournemouth in its first year of operation. The airline will initially base two 148-seater 737-300 aircraft at Bournemouth.

Says buzz Chief Commercial Officer, Tony Camacho, 'This is just the start of our plans for Bournemouth. In the next year we will continue to expand and develop our destination portfolio which will position Bournemouth as one of the UK's leading low cost bases. Our domestic route selection sees the South Coast benefit for the first time from low cost fares to Scotland and Northern Ireland at a fraction of the price of British Airways. Our mainland European network creates a wide reaching international gateway for the South Coast.'

Today's announcement follows the recent launch of Bournemouth as buzz's second UK base in addition to London Stansted. By the end of 2003 buzz will have established a further two bases - a third in the UK and its first in mainland Europe.

buzz is the UK's third largest low cost operator and is the second largest low cost carrier in France and Germany. buzz currently flies 24 routes across France, Germany, Spain and Holland. Last year the airline carried 1.4 million flyers. By the end of 2002 buzz predicts it will carry 1.8 million flyers with 86% of bookings coming via the internet.
