Alba Semi-plena is a breathtakingly beautiful white antique rose that has been known at least since the 16th century.  Luxuriously fragrant roses of simple beauty drape tall, arching canes.  Foliage is matte grey-green.  Its hardiness and disease resistance is well-documented.  Not really for the small garden, Alba Semi-plena needs space to stretch out and reach for the sky.  A wonderful feature for the back of the border or as a single specimen in the landscape.
Also known as the White Rose of York, there seems to be little proof that it was ever used as the Yorkist emblem during The War of the Roses.
After its late June bloom, the orange-red rose hips will begin to form, creating an excellent fall display.
Alba Semi-plena will tolerate poor soils and a bit of shade.
