Betty Prior

Knowing nothing more about this rose than the fact that it's older yet still available today, I took the plunge and bought an excellent-looking specimen at Lowe's.  I planted it in a new garden that we've prepared on the east side of our pole barn.  (That building sure needed some dressing up!)  Betty Prior is situated between two deciduous azaleas.  The azalea on the left is pale pink, and the azalea to the right is a deep pink-coral blend.  I think Betty Prior's rosy pink blooms will be the perfect unifier.
The repeating blossoms are rich rose pink and single, born in clusters on a disease resistant plant.  This hardy rose can fit well into tight spots since it normally grows only 2 feet wide.  Betty Prior won the RNRS Gold Medal in 1933.
