Lavender Lassie

Breeder:  Kordes

Parentage:  Hamburg x Mme. Norbert Levavasseur

Introduction:  1960, Germany

Class:  Hybrid Musk

Color:  Pink/Mauve blend

Scent:  Strong

Size:  5 to 12 feet high x 4 feet wide

Zone:  6 to 10

This rose was purchased at Great Lakes Roses in Belleville, Michigan.  The fact that they offer this rose for sale was a good enough reason for me to try it in our climate.  They grow only hardy roses, being well aware of Michigan's reputation for rose-killing temperature swings in winter.
Lavender Lassie is planted on the west side of the picket fence in the patio garden.  Slightly shaded in the early morning, it receives plenty of sun throughout the rest of the day.  We plan to let it spread along the fence behind "Lexy," another hybrid musk rose from
Heirloom Old Garden Roses.
