Of all the roses that are coming to our gardens this year, I think I am most excited about this one.  I'm pleased about having a rose that has wonderful fragrance, will not be covered in blackspot, will not have to be babied through a Michigan winter, and will bloom repeatedly all summer.  The lovely rugosa foliage should look as perky in August as it does in May.  Now that's something to look forward to!
Martin Frobisher, the first of the explorer roses, is a
really pretty pink rose!  In the past, I haven't considered purchasing rugosa roses because their strong colors are not my favorite hue for the garden, yet I'm drawn to their disease resistance and reliability.  When I saw this pink rugosa at The Roseraie site, I decided to order it.  Perky, pink, ruffly roses are damask-like in form and fragrance. The scent is really superb!  Roses repeat all season.  Although no hips form in the fall, red canes will provide winter interest.
