It has been my joy to order several alba roses for the garden this year.  I'm excited about the disease resistance, lovely foliage, and rich scents of the alba class.  Hardiness is so important for my garden, and that is included in the package too.  Alba roses seem to be a perfect answer for Michigan gardeners desiring profound beauty and health packed into a shrub that will outgrow the standard 4 x 3 size of the common garden rose.
Mme Legras De St. Germain is a white rose of extreme elegance.  Its classy canes are nearly thornless and dressed up in light grey-green leaves.  The very double blossoms faintly hint of yellow and remind me of fluffy pompoms made out of kleenex tissue.  Give this rose some room as it becomes very large indeed.  With support, it makes a good climber to 15 feet.  Excellent where you need beauty without thorns.  Once blooming.
