Pinocchio is another intriguing mystery in my garden.  I think I have Pinocchio, but I'm not really sure.  My mom bought some roses at Walmart.  One of the roses was packaged as "New Day," a yellow hybrid tea, and another was labeled Pinocchio.  I was really careful when I planted the roses, so I'm pretty sure I didn't get them mixed up. (yeah, right!)  When the rose marked "New Day" bloomed it was a wonderful pink color fading to salmon at the edges-- very pretty, very fragrant!  The other rose which was supposed to be Pinocchio died, so I'm never going to know for sure what happened.  My doubts arise mainly from the fact that floribundas generally bloom in clusters, and I have only gotten single roses from this shrub.  Perhaps youth would cause this?  I don't know.  At any rate, the rose is wonderfully colored, magnificently scented, and quite reliable and disease-free in my garden.  I am so very pleased with this rose, and if it is Pinocchio, no wonder it is considered to be one of the most significant parents of modern Hybrid Teas and Floribundas.
