Sifting through the early deliveries of bare root roses at Lowe's, I spied this fine shrub.  I was in the market for a super hardy and disease resistant rose. A spot of mildew may trouble Therese Bugnet occasionally, but in the main, disease resistance is one of the rugosa class's hallmarks.
Blue-green leaves create a cool color background for the warm pink, ruffled  blossoms.  A large flush in spring is followed by repeat bloom throughout summer and into the fall.  Jack Frost turns the lovely leaves to red and gold with a fine display of orange-red hips.  A bird's delight!
Be careful when picking blossoms!  The rose canes are armed with vicious thorns. The shrub grows to seven feet and makes a fine specimen plant in the landscape.
