In a bowl combine 3/4 cup of flour and the sugar; cut in margarine. For topping, remove 1/2 cup of the crumb mixture; stir in nuts and cinnamon. Set aside.
To remaining crumb mixture add remaining flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Add eggs, applesauce or apple butter, and vanilla; beat till well blended. If desired, stir in raisins. Pour into a greased 9x9x2-inch baking pan. Sprinkle topping on batter. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 30-35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean. Serve warm.
