The ascension of Jesus is a promise. It is an example of how He will will return for us someday. We know that we will ascend with Jesus when He comes back to receive us to Himself. This wonderful description is in chapter one of the Acts of the Apostles. The disciples watched Jesus go up into the clouds; and as He went, two men in white apparel promised them that He would return in the very same way. While He waits for the right time, He has left with us His Holy Spirit, the third person of The Trinity. The Holy Spirit knows when we love Jesus and we can tell with our own spirit, and our hearts, that we are God's. On a day called Pentecost, the Holy Spirit, the power of God, decended upon the disciples with the sound of a mighty rushing wind, and in the form of tongues of fire. Since that time, the world has felt the impact of the Gospel. We should be disciples too. We can let the Holy Spirit work in us, by telling others how Jesus bought our lives by giving His own. This can be difficult; but if we look for Jesus each day, living for Him, becomes a natural part of our lives. God gives us all things to enjoy, but things lose their importance in the light of His glory. When Christ is in us, He becomes our hope of eternal glory.
