The Rich Young Man Who Went Away Sorrowful
A rich young ruler came to Jesus and fell down before Him on his knees and said, "Good Master, what should I do to inherit eternal life?" Jesus replied, "Keep the Commandments."Christ recited the Commandments to the rich young man, who said, "These, Sir, I have kept from my early youth," Then Jesus put His finger on the problem that was bothering the rich young man and said to him, "To be perfect go sell all that you have, give it to the poor, take up the cross and follow me." When the young man heard these words he became sad. He bowed his head and left sorrowfully. To this young man riches meant more than the cause of the cross. Although money and riches in themselves are not evil, many times those who have riches have obtained them at the expense of the poor and the innocent, and many times those who have riches have placed them before God. That is why Christ said it is hard for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God. The love of money should not come before the love of God.
Christ Chasing The Money Lenders From The Temple
Often we think of Christ as a mild and meek man. Certainly, He is the tender Sheperd caring for His sheep, but He displayed anger and physical strength when He drove the moneychangers out of the temple. Many people came to the temple at Jerusalem to offer sacrifices to God. To buy doves and other animals for sacrifices, their money had to be exchanged for that used in the temple. Christ found these men, who changed the money, not only  crowding out the place of worship with their business, but also cheating the people. His wrath aroused, Christ whipped these foul people from the place of worship, and said, "My house shall be called a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves." Christ has always been the enemy of those who would make merchandise of religion. These men who were in the place of worship let money push God out of there minds. Our modern world tends to crowd Christ out of our lives. We, too, shall be driven out unless we draw nigh to Christ with our hearts, not with our voices only.
The Son Of The Widow Of Nain
A Jesus and His followers came to the city of Nain, south of Capernaum, they met a funeral procession at the city gate. It was a young boy's funeral. This boy had been his mother's only son, and she was a widow. All the people were sad for the woman. When Jesus saw the mother in her grief, He pitied her and said, "Do not weep." Then Jesus came close and touched the litter on which they were carrying the body of the dead boy. The bearers looked with wonder on this stranger, and set the litter down. Jesus stood beside the body and said, "Young man, I say to you, rise up." In a moment the young man sat up and began to speak. The mother, seeing this great miracle, knelt beside her boy and gave praises for what had been done. She believed that Jesus is the Son of God. Great fear came upon all who had seen the miracle taking place; and they praised God saying, " God has indeed come to His people and has given us a prophet." News of the raising of the dead boy to life spread throughout all the land.
