Dani sighed loudly as she threw down the Saturday newspaper in frustration.

"I'm never going to find a place to live, why is everything in this city so damn expensive?" She yelled to no one in particular.

"I don't know why you have to move anyway Dani.  We aren't planning on kicking you out yet." Her father chuckled as he diced vegetables in the kitchen.

"I told you dad,  I just can't live here.  I've lived on my own for five years, I like living that way."

"You don't even have a job."

"I'll find one." She said, continuing her search through the classifieds.  It had only been a little over a week since she found out what Lauren had done, eight days of catty remarks from her sister about Brian, still not revealing why she had done it, eight days too many, she thought to herself.  Her parents knew something was up between them, but they didn't press, even when she told them she was planning on moving out.  Dani crossed out yet another apartment, high rent, disgusting apartments, and creepy roommates had half the page crossed off in big black x's.

"Are you fucking crazy, Sofie will kill you."

"She'll be fine with it Joey." Brian said, as the two men attempted to clear the musty old couch from the empty room in their house. "Turn it to the left.....No dipshit, your other left."

"She saw you sitting on the couch with her and had a fucking cow, and you think she'll be fine about her moving in here?" Joey shook his head.  "You're losing it."

"I haven't even asked her yet."

    "Sofie?"

"No, I haven't asked Dani to move in here."

"Than why are we moving this couch?" Joey said with appallment, letting the heavy piece of furniture thump to the floor.

"Because I know she'll say yes." He said smugly, getting Joey to pick the couch back up.

"So what's up with you two anyway?  Does super bitch have a reason to be jealous."  He said suggestively.

"Sofie is not super bitch, and Dani's my best friend." he shrugged.

"That's it.  She's just your friend?  I mean you have noticed she's hot?" Brian ignored him and continued to twist the couch so they could fit it through the door frame.

"C'mon, are you telling me you haven't fantasized about her once?"

"Shut up Joey and help me get this couch out."

"She could be a nice little jam Bri!"

"Don't even think about it Joey, she's off limits." He said with fire in his eyes.

"You're awfully protective of your friend." He said, getting a better grip on the couch.  "You sure Sofie shouldn't be jealous?"

"We're friends, why does it have to be more than that?"  Joey watched the anger in Brian's face and he couldn't help but laugh."What are you laughing at?"

"I just think it's funny that you've been seeing Sofie for what four, five months now, but you ask Dani to move in with you."  Brian dropped his end of the couch.

"She isn't moving in with me, she's moving in here.  Sofie doesn't need a place to stay, Dan does."

"You haven't even told Sofie yet have you?"

"Nope." Brian replied picking the couch up again.  It was wedged in the door frame.

"You know she's gonna trip out Bri"

    "She'll calm down about it."

"Okay, quick question.  If you had to chose between Dani or Sofie who'd win?"

"Just movie the couch, it's almost out."

"Nope I won't budge until you answer." He leaned against the ugly brown couch, staring into Brian's angry face.  "If Sofie says either Dani goes or I do, who would win?"

"Dani."  Joey raised a quizzical eyebrow, leaving it up as he picked up the couch again and finally got it through the bedroom door. Joey still stared at him with an 'I told you so' gaze.

"What?  I've known her since we were kids, she's like my sister, why are you making such a thing out of this?"

"Cause you don't pick a sister figure over someone you can fuck if there isn't something else there." He pressed.

"Screw off Freud, I don't need to hear your words of wisdom.  Let's get this thing outside."  Seeing the pissed off look on Brian's face after all the antagonizing he had done, Joey tried to stifle his own laughter, as they finally managed to get the couch outside and on the curb of the road.
