Chapter Thirty One

Annie's heart was racing as she could feel what was about to happen creep up on her.  Nick laid a trail of kisses down her neck and she let out a soft moan, running  her hands through his hair and rolling over to lay on top of him.  Annie kissed from the back of his ear all the way down to his bellybutton.  Each kiss setting the scene with a little more passion and fire than before.  Annie brought her face just above Nick's and she smiled tenderly at him.

“I love you,” she whispered.  Nick ran his hands down her back and her body shivered with excitement and anticipation.

“I love you too Ann,” he said as he rolled her over and looked deep into her eyes.  They both just stared at each other and Nick smiled.

    “What?” she asked.

“I just missed you, that's all,” he said.  Nick leaned down and kissed Annie deeply.  Annie ran her hands through his hair and all the way down his back, stopping at the tip of his boxer shorts.  Nick let out a little chuckle.

“You can go further if you want to, there's no barrier there,” he laughed.  Annie smiled and gave Nick another kiss.  Their kisses became fiery and more impassioned than they had ever been before.  Nick kissed Annie's neck and she kept nibbling on his earlobes and then when their lips met, electricity ran through their bodies simultaneously.  Suddenly, Nick broke away from the kissing with his lips pulsing and looked straight into Annie's eyes.

“Are you sure about this Annie?” he asked sincerely.  Annie looked at him and smiled.

“Yes, I'm very sure,” she said breathlessly.  Her vision was becoming blurry and her heart was pounding so fast she was sure Nick could hear it.

“We don't have to do this baby,” he whispered as he kissed her tenderly.

“No,” Annie whispered, “I want to.  I wanna be with you Nick.”  Annie pulled Nick's face closer to her and kissed him deeply and rolled over on top of him.  “I'm ready for this,” she whispered as she began kissing a trail down his neck.

“I love you Ann,” Nick said.

    “I love you too,”

Annie let out a deep and happy sigh.  She was laying on her side on her bed with the moon streaming in, making her look angelic underneath her white sheets.  Annie couldn't keep the smile off her face as she thought about the previous few hours.  She was in the arms of the man she loved and nothing mattered anymore but that.  All of the pain they had both gone through to get to where they were was all worthwhile now.  Annie rolled over and saw Nick sleeping soundly.  He looked like such an angel when he slept.  Sometimes, Annie thought he really was sent from Heaven because of all that had happened with him.  She had found herself and who she really was because of Nick, and for that, she would forever be grateful.  Annie looked at Nick and smiled, kissing him lightly on the forehead and laying her head down on his chest.  He stirred a little and woke slightly  seeing Annie's head on his chest.  He wrapped one arm around her shoulder and kissed the top of her head.   As she listened to his heart beat, lulling her to a peaceful sleep.

The next morning Annie woke up and Nick was nowhere to be found in the room.  Annie's heart lurched into her throat.

“Did I fucking dream that?” she asked aloud.  Annie began scanning the room and saw Nick's pants strewn on the floor; her heart returned to it's original spot.  Just then, the door opened and there was Nick.  He was rubbing his hands through his hair and making his newly spiked do stick up higher than before.

“Hey beautiful,” he said as he smiled at her and walked back into the bedroom.  Nick sat back on the bed and grabbed Annie into a hug.

“What a way to wake up,” he said as his face was buried in her shoulder and long hair.

“What do you mean?” Annie asked playfully.  Nick let out a little chuckle and looked into Annie's eyes.

“I love waking up to your beautiful face.  And, after last night, it makes it even sweeter looking at you now,” he said as he smiled.  Nick brought a hand to Annie's face and brushed some hair out of her eyes and placed it behind her ear.

“Last night was incredible,” Annie said as she laid down on the bed again.  Nick followed and they laid side by side.  He ran his hands up and down her back and she stared out the window.

"Was everything okay...ya know, about last night?" Nick asked still full of concern for her.  Annie rolled over to face Nick.

“Of course it was,” she said as she kissed him lightly on the lips.  Nick smiled at her. “It was perfect Nick.” she said reassuringly.

“I just wanted everything to be, ya know, good for you,” he said quietly.  Nick brushed some hair out of Annie's face again.  She grabbed Nick hand and kissed the inside of his palm.

“It couldn't have been any better Nick.  You were so gentle and sweet, and I know you love me and I know  that I love you and that it made it all the more special.”  She kissed Nick's forehead and snuggled her head in the crook of his neck.  They laid motionless for awhile, and Annie was drifting back off to sleep when Nick quickly made a move off the bed.

“Where are you going?” she asked dreamily.

“I’ll be right back, just going to the bathroom,” he whispered quietly before he kissed her and left the room.  Annie smiled a little and rolled over.  She began thinking of the previous night and how amazing it had been, how gentle Nick had been with her and how amazing she felt.  Annie  began realizing how at peace she was now and how she hadn't felt that way in such a long time, smiling at the memory of his kisses and at the memory of his touch.

At that moment Annie felt a tear run down her face.  It wasn't a sad tear, but a happy one.

“Hey baby,” Nick whispered as he walked back into the room, crawling back into bed.  Nick bent down to give Annie a kiss when he saw the tears.

“Baby, what's the matter?” Nick eyes were filled with concern and wondered if he had done anything.

“Nothing,” she said as she shook her head.

“I don't believe you,” Nick said as he wiped away some of her tears.

“No, Nick, there's nothing the matter.  I was just thinking about last night, that's all,” she whispered softly as she ran a hand through Nick's hair.

“And, that made you cry?” Annie started laughing.

“No, it made me happy! I can cry when I'm happy too!” she smiled.

“Are you sure you're okay?” Nick sounded extremely concerned.  Annie sat up on her elbows so she was up in Nick's face and kissed him on the lips lightly.

“Nick, believe me when I say that last night was probably the best night of my life.  You make me so happy and last night was incredible, you are incredible.  I couldn't have asked for better.” she smiled.  Nick smiled at Annie smile.

“It's nice to see you smile Ann,” he whispered as he laid his head down on her chest.  She ran her hands through his hair and began looking at his newly spiked hair-cut.

"Ya know,” Annie said, “I could definitely get used to this hairstyle on you Carter.”

“You like it?” Nick asked as he sat up and ran a hand through his hair making it stand up really high.  Annie made a sour face then giggled.

    “Not like that dork!”

“WHAT?” Nick asked in mock pain.

“You heard me Carter!” Annie said laughing as Nick began tickling her.

“Nick! No! Stop! Heehee! Stop it Nick! SPIKEY…I LOVE THE HAIR!”  Suddenly, Nick stopped tickling Annie and smiled at her.

    “What?” she asked.

“Love you,” he said quickly before he kissed her lips passionately.  Annie giggled a little but returned the kiss and wrapped her arms around Nick's neck and she felt like she could stay there forever.
