The following is a letter to the editor that was submitted to the local Cumberland Times Newspaper in Cumberland, MD.
To the editor:

Many of your readers remember a story of a little girl named Brandy Lynn White.  In 1986 this little girl's story unfolded and made headline news in every paper within the tri-state and surrounding areas.  Brandy was an innocent 4 year old little girl, guilty of NOTHING.  Her life was brutally taken from her by two people she depended on to keep her safe and free from harm.  At the hands of her mother, Donna Lynn White, and her mother's boyfriend, she was beaten and literally murdered by the two of them.  In a scenerio that mortified, saddened and shocked an entire community, there are those of us that will never forget!  This little girls tragic death had such an impact on everyone that knew, everyone that heard just the mention of the name Brandy Lynn White brings bck horrible memories of 1986.

Donna Lynn White was sentenced to life plus 15 years in prison,  In the minds and hearts of those that will never forget, no sentence could ever replace the life of this precious girl.  Donna Lynn White has been granted a review of her sentencing on December 5, 2003 in the Washington County Courthouse.  She will appear before a three judge panel that will review her sentencing.

Petitions are being circulated throughout the area to protest any leniency or mercy shown to Donna Lynn White.  If you remember, or even if you don't please let our judicial system know by your signature that we are not in favor of reducing a sentence for a mother proven guilty of taking part in the murder of her own child.
