Star Wars is a battle between good and evil. Is that summary enough for you? Well, fine.
The evil Darth Vader attacks a Rebel ship looking for stolen plans to the ultimate weapon, the Death Star. He takes captive the Princess Leia from the planet Alderran, hoping to interrogate her and find out where the Rebel's hidden base is. Before she is captured, she manages to send two droids and a message to the planet Tatooine, in hopes that someone will find it. Luke Skywalker intercepts the droids and the message, and delivers them to Obi-Wan Kenobi, known to him as Old Ben. The message tells Obi-Wan to deliver the secret plans to Alderran, so the two and the droids go to Mos Eisley Spaceport, in hopes of finding a pilot. The one they find is named Han Solo, and his ship, the
Millenium Falcon. Solo, Kenobi, Skywalker, C-3PO, R2-D2, and Chewbacca all leave Tatooine and go to Alderran. When they arrive, they find the planet not there! Before they arrived, Grand Moff Wilhuf Tarkin had destroyed the planet hoping that the Princess would tell him where the Rebel base was. Before the Falcon could get away, the Death Star had tractored it in and now one of them had to get to the tractor beam generator and turn it off. Obi-Wan voulnteers to do this while the others hide in a control room to wait for him. While in the control room, Artoo finds out that the Princess is a captive on the Death Star and Luke, Han, and Chewie go to rescue her. They do, but not before someone realizes that they're there. The four slide down a garbage chute, later realizing that there is no way out and the trash is being compacted. After a struggle with the compacter, Luke reaches Threepio on the comlink and tells him to open the door. Meanwhile, Obi-Wan disengages the tractor beam and on the way back to the ship, he meets his old apprentice, Darth Vader. They duel and Darth ends up "killing" Obi-Wan. Everyone else gets off the Death Star safely, and they travel to Yavin 4, where the hidden Rebel Base is located. General Jan Dodonna accesses the information in Artoo and explains the battle plan to the pilots. They were to use one-man fighters and fly down a narrow trench to an exhaust port and fire one proton topedo directly on it. The port is about 2 meters wide. Many pilots argue that it is impossible to do, but are convinced otherwise by Luke, who "used to bulls-eye womp rats in his T-16, and they're no bigger than 2 meters." The next day, the attack on the battlestation commences, and Han Solo leaves. Pilots are lost in the first two runs down the trench, then it is Luke's turn. His wingmates are Biggs Darklighter, Luke's friend from Tatooine, and Wedge Antilles, later to become one of the best pilots in Starfighter Command. Biggs is killed and Wedge has a problem and Luke tells him to "pull out, you can't do anymore good back there." Luke is about to be vaped, but then Han Solo shows back up and saves him by hitting the TIE fighter following him. Luke hears a voice that sounds like Obi-Wan, telling him to trust his instincts. A moment later, he fires off a proton torpedo and speeds away from the exploding Death Star. There is a large celebration in honor of Luke, Han, and Chewbacca. They all recieve medals and the music changes to that of which we are so familiar.
