Method of Mobile Statistics
Debate: Carl, Jutta & Franz
May 21, 2000
Hi, folks;
I propose that in our Tuesday AOL chats, we add some statistics
where
appropriate. These would demonstrate the importance of the topics
discussed and points that are made. Of course, we would cite the
sources. For example, in the following on-line CNN article on AIDS
in
Botswana, the statistics dramatize the current and future devastating
effect of this disease on the population.
Statistics are often inaccurate, but so is everything else.
Nevertheless, statistics stimulate thinking and discussion.
Regards.

Carl,
The only problem is that we should train our "dormant" sector of
Pandemonium
Crew, to study the scientific, praxical methods of obtaining true,
really
existential "statistics"; with the bourgeois ideological, system
affirming, labour loving "statistics" of the social sciences, especially
sociology and economics, not even to mention, politics, I don't
think that we'll
get far.
One of the most sophisticated ways of producing ideology and
domination, is exactly across Formal-Logical Statistics. These are
scientifically
and philosophically useless. About dialectical or dialogical statistics,
I've never heard. Imagine statistics in motion, to reflect a mobile
reality. The
"best' example of "statistics" can be seen in the African AIDS campaign.
The
"worst" I have seen during the Vietnam War; according to official
statistics,
counting all the Vietcong dead, there should not be a single living
Vietnamese anymore.
Statistics and Formal Logics are identical; they are just another
side of the
same coin.
Anyhow, let's see what can be done.

Carl,
consider developing MMS - a "method of mobile statistics" in order
to
provide data for a flowing, open, multiple-dimensional truth. You
have
already indicated the necessity and possibility of a "mobile calculus"
(chaos equations) with regard to unforeseeable innovations in your
article on "Space Exploration and Colonization" - the first article
of yours I ever got to read! This is the kind of statistics, calculus
and equation we need for our processual thinking and method! - Stationary
statistics will not help backing up what is reflected in our Science
and Philosophy, and in our chats and debates.
Regards,
Jutta.
Jutta:
MMS is an interesting concept. Actually,
Chaos Theory is a form of MMS.
The equations of Chaos Theory are used to
predict the behavior of continuously
changing variables and their non-linear relationships
more accurately
through precise knowledge of the initial
conditions. Moreover, the dynamic
patterns determined by Chaos Theory have been
offered to replace the
static
bell shaped curve as a more accurate predictor
of non-linear behavior.
Has MMS ben discussed on the web? Please send
me a URL? A team of
professional mathematicians will need to develop
and test MMS, and as a
science writer, I will gladly help write an
article that can be easily
understood by lay and professional audiences.

Carl,
To my knowledge, neither is the term "MMS"
already in use, nor have it's
contents and the problematic described by
MMS been discussed on the net (or
elsewhere). So it is entirely up to ourselves
to develop this concept and
it's
contents, as well as it's mathematical modus
operandi. We would need a new
kind
of mathematics/calculus/statistics, that would
have to comprise at least the
following 4 basic components as a minimum
requirement for full
operationability:
a) Static description and calculus of "inertial
events" (Identification of
Rest).
b) Static description and calculus of "events-in-motion"
(Identification of
Motion).
c) Dynamic description and calculus of both,
inertial events and events in
motion, in relation to each other (Differentiation
of Rest and Motion).
d) Multimensional exploration and speculative
calculus of so far
unidentified
types of relations, that fall within the vast
realm of neither inertial nor
moving events, that is, within the realm of
"relational events"
(Triversification of Rest, Motion and Relation).
I can provide you with the logics as exposed
on our Pandemonium.Crew
Home Page
(the main page on Geocities), you, or any
open minded mathematical expert,
would
have to provide the mathematical input!

Jutta.

supportive numerical data wherever these are

available.

Carl,
For the "time" being, we have no alternative
but to rely on multi-national statistics,
official ideologue data, erudite academic
"facts". In our chats, we can use these "anytime"
to make a point, but at our own psychological
and mental risk.
I enjoyed our mini-debate on statistics!

Franz.
