Rumors and Other Tidbits

Del Piero disappointed after draw Alessandro del Piero is "saddened" after Juve could only draw 1-1 with Lazio - a result which all but rules the bianconeri out of the title race. The gap now at the top is six points meaning Marcello Lippi's side face an uphill battle if they are to get any silverware from Serie A this season, as Roma and Inter Milan are showing no signs of slipping up as they keep on winning. After the match, Del Piero said: "I'm saddened and truly sorry. This isn't a happy moment for us. We won't give up and I think we've proven that in the game with Lazio as well where our performance kept improving minute by minute. "But we have to be realistic. With five games to go things have become terribly hard for us. It wasn't easy playing against Lazio because they played excellent defensively and didn't really leave us room to attack them. "However, it must be said that our season has been filled with injuries and this has influenced us very much." Del Piero went on to put the record straight regarding recent transfer rumours which have linked him with a switch to Barcelona, saying he wants to stay in Italy and with Juve. "I have a deep affection for Juve. We always understood each other and I think that we could still do great things together," said Del Piero.
