Polishing an Automag:
Submitted by Lizza "Poppet" Grigg
First, take the body rail, sight rail, grip frame, elbow, etc. off your 'Mag body. Clean it well to remove dust, dirt, paint, and such. Start with a hidden area on the body and a low grit sandpaper or so, (60 grit or so). As the grey paint comes off and reveals the metal underneath you work your way up to higher grit sandpaper. The higher you go, the smoother finish your going to have. Finish with some gun lube' and there you have it, your all done!
*Editor's Note: It may also be convienant to start with a chemical paint stripper to remove the finish much, much faster. But use extreme caution, it can cause severe chemical burns, (experience speaking). And we recommend you do not conclude your sanding until you've reached around 2000 grit or so, (no exaggeration, look for it in the automotive section of a department store, with the paint repair). You can go even smoother and shinier with a polishing compound of some sort.*
