Through the test of time, the Intercontinental Championship has seen it's ups and downs.  It all started when 3T won the very first JWA:EWA Intercontinental Tournament to become champion.  He held the title with pride until JWA:EWA shut down for a while.  Returning, 3T feuded with Adidda, giving the title it's first real feud.  Then came along the dark Vulcan who not only defeated 3T for the title, but merged the new belt with the old belt and became the "undisputed" Intercontinental Champion, thus burying the old belt.  Vulcan held the title the longest in it's history, though many don't remember him losing to Scott Hall, he regained it after a week to continue his run.   Even Brimstone "died" during a defense of the title against Vegito and The Corpse.  Looking at the history, the title changes hands amongst beings that don't seem normal, but the prestige of the title is growing with every change.
