ALEX BAYLESS-drums
"Once, Twice, Three Times Dragonfly's Drummer!"
The talented Alex Bayless holds the record for having had the most tenures with Dragonfly, having been in the group three different times!

He first joined after Jon and Trent parted ways and Jon decided to carry on the group with Bayless and bassist Jeff Mikul.  Bayless' first flight with the group was cut short when personal matters rendered Alex unable to attend practice.

However, a year and a half later, then drummer Tim Myers had become somthing of a liability and the group was forced to abrubtly drop him.  A month later, Jon, having just come out of a serious depression, asked Bayless to rejoin, and Alex accepted. Thus began one of Dragonfly's most important eras; this version of the group did more shows than all of it's previous incarnations combined, and it was during this phase that the band established itself with manager John Alford.  Unfortunately, as plans for more concerts and a recording seesion were under way, Alex was forced to quit suddenly due once again to family and personal problems. His second tenure with the group had lasted for almost a year, and (between he and Jon anyway) the split was amicable.

Flash forward to almost a year later; Jon and Bayless had become good friends again, and Alex frequently heard about how Jon and Michael were having problem after problem with Charlie.  Wanting to help his old friends, he told Jon that if the group ended up needing him to step in for a little while he'd be glad to. About a month later, Jon took him up on the offer. Charlie was fired, and Bayless agreed to come onboard until a permanent replacement could be found.  Chris Childs was contacted and agreed to join the group, but said he would not be available for the next few months.  During the interim, Alex once again took flight with Dragonfly as they fulfilled the concert obligations they had left.  (Jon and Mike are thanking him to this day!)

Bayless continues playing in his own band and fondly remembers his time in Dragonfly. He and Jon and Mike are still good friends.
