BS"D Family Parasha Reading Chart ----------------------------------------- The Family Parasha (weekly Torah portion) Reading Chart can be used in many ways. It can be used by those who regularly read the parasha to keep track of the ones that they read. Another use is for children. Ask your children to read the parasha or read it with them. Ask them to be ready to explain it at the dinner table (preferably on Shabbat). Tell them they will get a star on their parasha chart, if they explain it well. When they discuss the parasha, ask questions and give them importance and attention. Wait till after Shabbat to paste on the stars, because of Jewish law. You might want to give them more stars if they explain the parasha well. When they do a whole book, give them a gift for their accomplishment. Notes: You can usually get the paste on metalic color stars at places that sell school supplies. You can find out which parasha it is this week by looking at a good Jewish calendar. Look at what it says on Saturday. There are special books on the Parasha like the Little Midrash Says or the Midrash Says. These are available at most Jewish book stores. They are pleasant and easy reading for children and adults. Try to give one to your children as a gift. The Numbers stand for what book in the Torah it is : 1 = B'resheet, 2 = Sh'mot, 3 = Vayikra, 4 = Bemidbar, 5 = D'varim.
