Lamp Lighting |
C) Safety Precautions Ensure that no spirit or kerosene is placed near to the pressure lamp when lighting. No kerosene should be stored in the kerosene container when the pressure lamp is under storage for a long time. No hurricane lamps are allowed in the tents. Do not leave the hurricane lamp out in the rain. Do not use methylated spirit to clean the glass chimney even though it is easier to remove the soot with it. Use newspaper to clean the glass chimney instead. Ensure that the glass chamber (when hot) does not come into contact with the water. Do not turn the regulator down too quickly if you wish to distinguish the hurricane lamp by lowering the wick into the wick holder. D) Pre-lighting Checks Ensure that there is sufficient kerosene in the kerosene container. Remove the wick holder to check the wick length. Ensure that the wick is long enough to absorb the kerosene. Turn the regulator clockwise until the wick can be seen from the top of the wick holder. E) Maintenance Clean the lamp after used. Clean the glass chimney periodically to remove the soot by combustion. Ensure that there is no kerosene/ methylated spirit inside the lamp after used. F) Parts of Hurricane Lamp |
