Session 2

At the completion of this course session, the student will be able to:

  1. Describe the benefits of EMTB-A continuing education. (C-1:1-1.1)
  2. List and explain the primary and additional roles and responsibilities of the
  3. EMTB-A. (C-2:1-1.3)

  4. Describe the role of the EMS physician in providing medical direction. (C-1:
  5. 1-1.4)

  6. Describe the benefits of medical direction, both on-line and off-line. (C-1:
  7. 1-1.5)

  8. Describe the relationship between a physician on the scene, the EMTB-A on
  9. the scene, and the EMS physician providing on-line medical direction. (C-1:

    1-1.6)

  10. Discuss the importance of universal precautions and body substance isolation
  11. practices and develop strategies to prevent the transmission of diseases. (C-3

    :1-1.7)

  12. Describe the steps to take for personal protection from airborne and blood
  13. borne pathogens. (C-1:1-1.8)

  14. Explain what is meant by an exposure and describe principles for manage-
  15. ment. (C-1:1-1.9)

  16. Identify and explain the importance of laws pertinent to the EMTB-A. (C-1:
