Background: Hua San is not really a prominent sect in the novel. Two of the grand master of Yue Bu Qun once went to Shao Lin's martial skills library to steal Kui Hua Bao Dian(a highly powerful martial skill invented by an eunch). One of them remembered the first half of the manual the other the second half. However when they recite the manual out again back in Hua San, they found that the first half does not flow with the second half and they began to insist that the other party has memorized it wrongly. Subsequently, Hua San became divided into the Sword Section and the Qi Gong Section. The Qi Gong Section won the sect leader title for a few generations, with Yue Bu Qun as one of them. Yue Bu Qun's master mentioned to him that if he wants to make Hua Shan more powerful, he has to look for and learn the Bi Xie Jian Fa(which is actually Kui Hua Bao Dian). Bi Xie Jian Fa is a property of the Lin family and from then on, Yue Bu Qun plotted to get hold of the manual.

However most of the people in this sect are very unscrupulous, overly ambitions and often despicable. I think they are more vicious than the evil sect.

Background: A sect filled with nuns. The 3 most prominent figures of the sect all died in the hands of Yue Bu Qun and Zuo Leng Chan. Later, LingHu Chong became the leader of the sect, the first male of the sect.

Background: Liu Zheng Feng, one of the promient figure of Heng San, befriended Qu Yang who is a memeber of the evil sect. Both of them indulge in music and met each other while trying to steal a music score from a tomb. Their friendship is not approved by the other 4 members of the Wu Yue Pai. Liu Zheng Feng has actually decided to retire from the pugilistic world because he does not wish to be forced to kill his friend Qu Yang. But the Song San people do not want to let him off and wanted him to make a choice between sacrificing himself and his family, or killing Qu Yang. Liu Zheng Feng is willing to die for his friend. Both of them created the superior music score "Xiao Ao Jiang Hu" and passed it on to LingHu Chong before they were killed by the Song San people. The leader of the sect is actually Muo Da who is a rather eccentric old man. Rumors were that he is not on good terms with Liu Zheng Feng who though younger, has already surpassed him in martial skills. This is not the truth though.

Background: Tai San Sect is a sect for Taoists, like how Bei Yue Hen San is for nuns. This sect is not talk about much in the novel itself.

Background: A very famous sect with the longest history of all and always well-respected. Present in all Jin Yong novels. The monks are not only highly skilled, but also have good moral values. They believe that human by nature is kind and would most readily give those who erred a chance to repent.

Ba Gua Jian Fa
Background: The founder is Ren Wo Xing, but he became so indulge in practicing Xi Xing Da Fa that he left all the sect duties to his trusted follower Dong Fang Bu Bai, who plotted to overthrow him. Dong Fang Bu Bai later became the leader and trapped Ren Wo Xing in a highly guarded dungeon in Mei Zhuang. Later, Ren Wo Xing's faithful follower Xiang Wen Tian found out his whereabouts and together with the help of LingHu Chong, rescued Ren Wo Xing from the dungeon. Ren Wo Xing then gathered manpower to regain his throne. He succeeded, with the help of Xiang Wen Tian, Ren Ying Ying who is his daughter, and LingHu Chong.
