Cuddled from the breast
of the dirt the earths

My creator blew breathe
which housed life my
great grandmothers
ancestors of Africa the
true Queens of strength
Forgive me if I have betrayed
your ways of long ago Ive
continued to weather the
storms put before me even
though I have dropped my head
Forgetting the knowledge you have
bread in me, the wisdom that has
been encamped around me and the
endurance that encircles my feet
as I dance to the drums of mother-
earth
The beat of Zulu passion forbidden
nights of Ethiopias river let my tears
of regret nurture the ground as I
repent in my neglect to sing my songs
of victory
Your crowns of life has bestowed me
and because of the love that grows
In me your peace has found me
life is birthed once again and the
spiritual hymns of old have found a
place to rest
