I Am

My FEMININITY is often mistaken for INABILITY.
My skin tone is often looked upon as a disability.
Throughout my existence credibility
I've sought.
Battles of stereotypes I've fought,
But fallen, I have not.
A Nubian queen I am.
Strong and respected I stand.
"Miss Diva Divine" I am.

Acceptance from mere humans I do not need.
I need only the approval of the one who created me.

I demand respect and authority
Even though many try ignoring me,
Yet all the while "the man" still secretly adores me.

Be convinced in full,
That a black woman I am, invincible,
Irreprehensible,
Guided thru life by God-given principles.

My spirituality is the essence of my individuality.
Never confuse my sexuality with my sensuality;
one in themselves, they work
hand in hand.

And still you ask who I am...
Honey, I AM THE BLACK WOMAN
