The Feel Of It

I have recently started feeling
something on my neck.
When I checked the
source of this feeling
I found that my locs had
started dropping below my ears.
At first I determined to
move the motion out of my way,
I put them up in hair bands
and went about my business.
Then one day I decided
to stop using the hair bands
and that feel was
reintroduced to my neck.
I started feeling the
texture of my hair,
I started letting my
hair caress my neck
and I started to fall in love
with the feel of it.
As it continues to drop
on the sides and front
I have a bang that
I did not plan for.
So now my whole face feels
the hair that falls
in my face and cascades
around my ears and neck.
The feel is soft,
the feel moves with the wind,
the feel is a welcomed guest.
As I have taken care of
and loved my hair
for the past three years
it is now returning
the love it has received.
It touches me, caresses me
and looks beautiful.
