Our first adventure was to visit an elementary school!
I arranged for us to visit Honaunau School on the Big Island.
I contacted Sue Fisher, a literacy coach at Honaunau School via email
and she gave us the tour on our first day in Hawaii.
It was so interesting to learn about educational practices in Hawaii.
We even had the opportunity to watch teaching and learning in action as we visited during a summer reading camp!

This is a picture of a beach in Kona, Hawaii.
The water is so clear and beautiful!

On the Big Island, we visited a black sand beach
on our way to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

Here we are at Kilauea.
We spent several hours at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park learning about volcanoes.

After completing our tour of Crater Rim Drive at Kilauea,
we explored the Thurston Lava Tube where lava once flowed from Kilauea.
This is a picture taken as we made our way out of the rainforest by the Thurston Lava Tube.

This is Rainbow Falls in Hilo, Hawaii. It is one of the most amazing sights I've ever seen!

We went to Hilo Hatties to see the largest shirt in the world!

This is Waikiki Beach outside of our hotel in Honolulu.

This is my dream come true! I got to swim with dolphins
at Sea Life Park on Oahu! What an amazing experience!

We visited the Polynesian Cultural Center and attended a luau!

Sunsets are one of my favorite things!
Our last night in Hawaii, we watched the sun disappear into the ocean.
It was beyond beautiful!

We left our families for 11 days to experience a lifetime of dreams become reality!
It was an amazing adventure and we are inspired
to teach our students and peers all we have discovered about Hawaii.
Thank you Fund For Teachers for making my dreams come true!
