Island Peak Trekking
Island peak, at a height of 6,160 meters, is more popularly known by the name of Island Peak . The peak was named Island peak by Eric Shipton's party in 1953, as the peak resembles an island in a sea of ice when viewed form Dingboche. Later in 1983, the peak was renamed as Imja Tse. The peak was first ascended in 1953 by a British team as preparation for climbing Everest. Tenzing Norgay was one of the members who successfully ascended it. The peak is part of the south ridge of Lhotse Shar and the main land forms a semicircle of cliffs that rise to the north of the summits of Nuptse, Lhotse, Middle Peak and Lhotse Shar. Cho Polu and Makalu lie to the east of the Island Peak . Baruntse, Amphu and Ama Dablam lie to the south.


Itinerary of Island Peak Trekking

Days 01 : Arrival, transfer to hotel, introduction and briefing

Days 02 : fly to Lukla (2835m) then start trek to Phakding.

Days 03 : Phakding / Namche Bazaar (3446m)

Days 04 : Rest at Namche bazaar

Days 05 : Tyangboche.

Days 06 : Pheriche.

Days 07 : Lobuche.

Days 08 : Trek to Kalapather (5545m) and back to Gorak Shep. Camp at Gorakshep

Days 09 : Excursion to Everest Base Camp and trek back to Lobuche

Days 10 : Dengboche.

Days 11 : Dingboche / Chukung (4730m)

Days 12 : Chukung / Island Peak base camp (4970m)

Days 13 : Island Peak base camp / High camp (5700m)

Days 14 : Climb the peak (6189m) then back to Chukung (4730m)

Days 15 : Extra day

Days 16 : Chukung / Pangboche (3930m)

Days 17 : Pangboche / Namche Bazaar (3446m)

Days 18 : Namche Bazaar / Lukla (2835m)

Days 19 : Flight to Kathmandu

Days 20 : Kathmandu, City sightseeing

Days 21 : Depature
