Appearance: Aeya could not be considered handsome. Short and pudgy, his small frame is more fat than muscle, and his round face still has traces of baby fat. The large red burn mark on his face, on his cheek under his left eye, certainly doesn't help either. His wild red-brown hair falls over his face constantly and refuses to sit straight. His eyes are a rather plain reddish-brown color and his skin is a dark reddish-tan. His clothes are ragged and, more often than not, dirty, as he tends to not care too much about his appearance. They are usually baggy and too big for him, and unstylish.

Personality: Aeya doesn't like people all that much. Often picked on by his older siblings, he has a quick temper and is a surprisingly good fighter. He respects his parents, but rarely shows respect to any other adults, and has a bad habit of talking back. He is cynical and sarcastic, and doesn't know when to hold his tongue. He doesn't like being around crowds and enjoys being by himself for long periods of time. He is not lazy though; he will gladly perform any task he is assigned to quickly and efficiently-he'll just sneak off quietly once he's finished so he won't get any more work.

Past: Born into a large family of traders, Aeya has constantly been on the move all his life. He's never lived in one place for more than a month, always traveling with his family. His parents are happily married and love all their children very much. Despite his constant rivalry with his siblings, Aeya is very close to his parents-a bit of a 'momma's boy'. He has a whopping seven siblings; six older, and one younger sister that he enjoys picking on. He was often his brothers' whipping boy when they were younger, so learned how to defend himself early on.
He has a large burn mark on his face; a reminder of the time he wandered away from his family and got too close to a blacksmith's fire. He has stayed far away from any dangerous kind of job since, and when his parents finally gave up trying to find a respectable guild to apprentice him to, they ended up letting him help out with their trading business. He soon became very good at it, and will most likely end up taking over when his parents retire.
A year before he was searched, he found a strange creature in the forest his family's caravan was going through when he was wandering around at night. It was a strange looking creature, with a long, thin furry body and large, dragon-like wings on its back. It gladly followed him home, and his parents reluctantly let him keep it. He named the female bat-weasel (as he later found out it was called) Isai, and she rarely leaves his sight, usually resting curled around his neck and shoulders.
He was already at the Weyr when he was searched; his parents had come on their annual trip to the Weyr to trade with the dragonriders. Purely by chance, one of the green dragons happened to notice him helping out his parents, as he often did, and decided to point him out to her rider. And just like that, he was searched. Though he was quite unbelieving at first, thinking it was a joke of some sort, he eventually got over his shock and said he'd be glad to stand for the clutch.
Except he wouldn't be standing for the clutch. At least not there, anyway. The rider hurriedly explained that the clutch at that Weyr was already well over-filled, but he'd be happy to take him to another place where a queen dragoness had laid a clutch on the sands. The catch? This clutch wasn't on Pern, or even near it. It was at Star City Dragonry, a place Aeya had never even heard of. Though sceptical about the idea of a metal city in space, he agreed to go to this special clutch anyway.

Pets: Female Orange Bat-weasel, Isai
Dragon: Green Vetheth
Star City was far different than anything Aeya had ever seen. An entire city in space!
Once he found out the the queen's eggs were hatching, it took him a few minutes and a lot of asking around to figure out where the hatching bays were.
The hatching bays themselves were very different from any on his home planet as well. Instead of burning sand dunes, they were covered all over with a soft, mossy substance. The great golden queen guarded her eggs jealously on the far side of the enclosure, with a glittering gold egg nestled in her talons.
Aeya had heard talk about 'altering' some of the eggs somehow, and he had to admit he was both apprehensive and curious about what these dragonets would like. He didn't have long to wait to find out.
The first egg rolled into another one, and a dark purple dragonet with delicate golden whorls on her hide climbed out of the shards of the egg. However, it was quite obvious something had gone wrong; the hatchling's wing and front leg were nothing but shriveled stumps, and her hide was marked with dark scars.
Aeyateou gulped nervously as he watched the deformed hatchling. Were all the dragons going to be like
this? Fortunately, several normal dragonets broke shell at once, as the first purple made her way to one of the recordkeepers' apprentices.
The first was a pale brown with glowing purple pads on his body. He stared at some of the candidates, but for the most part ignored them and went to the food. A female, teal blue dragon looked through the candidates with disappointment. She had silky hair on the back of her neck and legs. Qutteth rumbled at the blue as she approached the queen egg and the group of girls surrounding it. The blue squawked a reply, and a young girl stepped forward, placing her hand the blue's head.
A darker blue, arms and legs covered with glowing rings sat staring at an egg. He was promptly tackled by a male green, and the two left together; they seemed to have bonded to each other. Aeya blinked, taken aback. There were some very odd dragons coming from this clutch.
A large egg cracked next, and a deep bronze slid out of the egg. He snorted, and a second deformed purple slid out of another egg. The bronze paid no attention to his purple brother, and moved to the candidates. The bronze bonded and left with his chosen rider, and the purple followed unbonded.
Another bronze with a metallic tail had hatched, followed by a cream that seemed to have no cyborware at all; a first in this clutch. The dark bronze moved slowly, then headed towards a robot.
The cream, meanwhile, was causing a commotion in the queen's circle, and two fire lizards joined in. Their owner turned away from the queen egg to go to the cream and hush her pets, and the cream crooned at her bond.
A pale green dragon with no cyborware hatched, looking as if he had less than good intentions in mind for his bond. They the the bays quickly, and all attention was drawn towards the clutchmother as the queen egg began to rock harder.
A large crack formed in the shell, and it shattered, spilling a bright gold hatchling onto the ground. The baby queen lay sprawled on the ground for a moment as the female candidates crowded around, but eventually stood up and walked to her chosen.
A plain purple and a brown with metal ears approached the candidates. The purple female bonded first, followed closely by her brown brother, and the dragons and their riders all left together.
Meanwhile, another green had hatched, this one with a fancy, glow-striped robotic arm. Her hide was dark green, and she looked over the candidates with an arrogant look on her face.
She was nearly at the end of the semicircle now, and Aeya thought the green was going to walk on past him.
So he was surprised when she stopped right in front of him and butted her head against his thigh. At the same time, he heard a feminine voice in his head,
Hey, pudgy! What are you doing just standing there? Let's go get me some food, huh? And be quick about it!
Aeyateou stared at the imperious green dragon as she pushed him toward the tables of food. Remembering he was supposed to tell the archivist's his dragon's name, he shouted over his shoulder, "Vetheth!"
