Personas
Name: Kalin
Rank: Snow leopard anthro/Wingrider
Gender: Male
Age: 22, 19 at Bonding

Height: 5'11-Tallish
Build: Slender
Skin: Creamy fair
Hair: Silver, to waist, braid

Appearance: Kalin is humanoid, but with the ears and tail of a cat, and slitted, cat-like eyes. His large eyes are a purplish-violet color. His thick, wavy hair hangs to his waist, and he usually keeps it in a large, messy braid. His skin is a pale, creamy color, and the fur on his ears and tail is white with gray snow leopard-like markings. He is somewhat tall and slender, and looks graceful in appearance. He is also very fast; a graceful, and very good, fighter.
Personality: Kalin is vain and conceited, sometimes downright selfish. He's arrogant, impatient, and short-tempered. He's convinced he's always right, despite whatever the evidence may suggest. He's very handsome, and he knows it. Checking his appearance in a mirror is a rather common activity for him.
Dragon: Ghost-wing Rainbow Copper Oyceth
Thunk!
Kalin dodged to the side as the long, wooden staff swung down at him, and swung his own staff up to meet the blow. The two staffs met with a dull clunk, and Kalin danced away from his opponent, agile as a cat.
He smirked to himself and leapt forward, swinging the rod at the older man with all his might. His opponent just swung the other staff at his legs. Kalin jerked at his sudden loss of balance, and yowled as he fell backward, laying on his back in the dirt.
Kalin's purple-violet eyes looked up at his mentor with a glare and he jumped to his feet. "Oh, don't give me that look." The old komodo dragon anthro exclaimed with a dry chuckle. Often times, Kalin had thought he'd gotten away with a sour look or mocking glance at the man, only to be promptly disciplined. Sometimes he wondered whether the old man was really as blind as he said he was. "You had it coming to you, leaping about like that."
Kalin scowled, lashing his white-gray tail back and forth behind him furiously. Master Moto just turned and began to walk away. "Better start practicing, kitten."
Kalin growled, clutching the wooden staff in his hands so tightly his knuckles turned white. He was dearly tempted to stuff the rod down his dear master's throat, but he had been training with the old man long enough to know that he'd never get that far. Instead, he stalked off into the forest that surrounded the tiny village that was his home.
The trees cast dappled shadows over the ground as they swayed gently in the breeze. Kalin made his way through the fern-covered ground to one of his favorite spots; a rocky outcropping far into the hills where he could look down at the village where he grew up.
His purple-violet eyes narrowed. He'd grown up in a village of half-animal anthros, hidden from the eyes of persecuting pure humans. He'd never known his parents, the old komodo dragon anthro, Moto, had been his caretaker and his teacher.
A crackling noise behind him drew the snow leopard anthro's attention as someone stumbled out of the foliage. Kalin stiffened when he saw what it was. A dark-haired human cursed to himself under his breath, brushing dirt and leaves from his clothing. The man's dark gray eyes met Kalin's as he looked up, and they both regarded the other with suspicion.
"Who are you?" The human asked crossly.
Kalin snorted. "What do you mean, who am I?
You're the one who's trespassing!" He said as he brandished his staff at the stranger.
The human took in his silvery hair and purple eyes, and the catlike ears and tail, and narrowed his eyes in disgust. "I don't need to answer to a half-animal freak like you!"
A warning rumble emerged from the depths of the forest, and Kalin looked up in alarm. The human looked unperturbed, and in fact, annoyed. "Alerath! What do you mean, he's the one we came for!? A fre-" Another growl interrupted him, and he sighed. "Oh, alright then." The man snapped.
The trees rustled as a huge creature stepped out of them, and Kalin stared. It looked like a large, pale blue lizard, but with a pair of large, batlike wings on its back. Its faceted eyes whirled gently as it looked at Kalin, who stood speechless.
"What's your name?" The human asked sulkily.
"K-Kalin." He answered, his eyes glued to the dragon.
"Hmmph. Kalin, this is my dragon Alerath. Alerath, Kalin. I'm B'tius, a searchrider. Alerath, for some bizarre reason only he could fathom, wants to take you to Star City Dragonry to stand for the clutch there. If you agree, we drop you off, you get a dragon like Alerath here, except probably more blindingly brightly colored, and you are left to your own devices and we never see you again. If you refuse, we leave, you go back to whatever you doing before we came, and we still never see you again."
He said all this very fast, and Kalin was sure there were a few words in there that didn't make sense. Nevertheless, the human looked like he'd like nothing better than to have him refuse and leave, so of course he agreed. "Okay."
The human fumed, and the dragon laughed.
Kalin paced the hallways impatiently, his snow leopard tail lashing back and forth furiously behind him. The eggs had been rocking for almost a day now, and he was just waiting for the hatching to be announced, for an excuse to go to the hatching grounds. He had been fascinated with the brightly-colored parents of the clutch ever since he'd laid eyes on them, and had been eagerly anticipating the hatching, even though he wasn't quite sure all that entailed.
Finally, the hatching of Vesadmorth's clutch was announced, and Kalin quite lightly bowled several people over in his haste to be the first candidate on the sands. Not that the snow leopard-anthro cared much, anyway.
One by one the candidates filed in. Kalin turned his eyes to the eggs. Two were already shaking, and the other three didn't look far behind. A hush fell over the crowds as the first egg rolled over and burst open. A wet, purple and rainbow form stepped out, and the green mother helped her first-born daughter to shaky feet.
The purple spread her wings, revealing soft, pale rainbow membranes. The hatchling looked uncomfortable at the sudden attention, and she turned back to her mother. They exchanged some words, silently, and the hatchling turned back to the candidates.
She dashed right to them-and kept on going, stopping only at the bowls of food being prepared for the hatchlings. Kalin blinked. So some dragons didn't bond, after all?
Another egg cracked and split, followed closely by a second. The first revealed a shiny copper male with multi-colored tiger stripes on his legs and tail. When he spread his wings, the dark sunset membranes were translucent. Obviously, this regal-looking copper took after his father.
The second dragon was smaller, and scrambled unceremoniously to his feet. His brightly-colored marking stood out against his darker, cobalt blue skin. He lowered his head at his brother, eyes narrowed, and mewled at the copper.
Several people chuckled at the apparent sibling rivalry as their mother calle dtheir attention towards the candidates. The copper pranced towards the candidates, head held high cockily. Before this one could pass the candidates also, Kalin stepped forward with his staff in hand, blocking the hatchling's path.
The copper glared up at him haughtily.
Excuse me? What do you think you're doing? The copper demanded. Get out of my bloody way or I'll-
The copper stopped suddenly, and his eyes softened.
Wait. Wait just a minute here... Nodding decisively, the hatchling seemed to make up his mind as he stepped forward. Alright, you're coming with me, Kalin. You obviously can't do without me. Bring me my food.
Kalin laughed, and placed his hand on the hatchling's still hornless head, and they both went towards the food. Someone stopped him on the way there, asking what the copper's name was.  "Oyceth." Kalin stated.
Oyceth snorted.
And you'd best not forget it. He gloated and puffed out his chest, even as the crowd cheered the rest of the hatching.
Hatching Message: Excuse me? What do you think you're doing? Get out of my bloody way or I'll-- wait.
Wait just a minute here...
Alright, you're coming with me, Kalin. You obviously can't do without me. Bring me my food.

Dam: Sunset Rainbow Green Vesdamorth
Sire: Ghost-wing Blue-Bronze Rainbow Blue Danonustapth
Size: Medium-small

He waits almost eagerly for others to make mistakes--either in what they say or what they do, and as soon as they do, he's all over them, teasing, sneering about it... he 'makes little girls cry'. Not to say that he doesn't have a good side... it's just that no one's found it, yet.

Kalin, get your butt over here! Oyceth roared. The ghost-winged raug-descended copper was standing on a rocky ledge protuding from the mouth of the weyr they called home at Darkling Dawn.
The copper's rider stepped outside, wincing as he rubbed his cat-like, highly sensitive ears. "What do you want now, Oyceth?" Kalin growled back at his dragon. The man's violet eyes narrowed impatiently as he looked up at his dragon.
The smallish copper stood up, arching his neck arrogantly as he pointed out the Silvery wraithish dragoness below.
Her. He said simply.
Kalin arched an eyebrow. "I've never seen her around here before."
Her name is Eshanath. She and her rider are only staying a short while. They go back to Star City later today.
Kalin shrugged, his gray-white tail flicking back and forth lazily behind him. "Yeah, so what? What's so special about her?"
I'm going to chase her, idiot. Oyceth snorted. We're going to follow them back to Star City. The rainbow copper stated. Oyceth, of course, never asked for anything from anyone else. He demanded. And heckled, bullied, and threatened until he got his way. Kalin was well-used to dealing with the copper's pushy nature-how else would he have survived being bonded to him?
Kalin just rolled his eyes and agreed. With Oyceth, what other choice did he have?
Oyceth is Chasing Mercurial Wraith Eshanath at: Star City
