Flight
Myriam stretched her limbs after the short ride on dragonback. They had arrived on Lao Daemia, at the Eyrie known as Kjan Liyr Eyrie, or Kjanli'eyr, more often. The sky was a rich, deep blue, and the warm, dry weather was a pleasant change after the freezing temperature of between.
Krinoth's creamy gold head turned to stare at his passengers, and they all jumped down. A'ros looked around, shielding his bright, deep blue eyes against the bright sun with the back of one hand. He began to point in various direction, almost too fast for the other two to follow.
"Okay, the Black Sands, which are basically like the Hatching Sands, are over there. But you might wanna go to the Eyrlass' office first, which is over there. To the left of the Black Sands are where the abandoned dragons stay, and over there's the main entrance. Have fun!" A'ros said all this very quickly, and promptly jumped back up on Krinoth's back as the dragon rumbled amusedly at Iason and Myriam's stunned looks.
"Hey! Wait a minute, you big oaf." Iason snapped, scowling at his grinning friend.
"Slow down! We couldn't hear a shaffing word you said!"
A'ros laughed and lead them away. "Come on, the Eyrlass' office is this way." He said.
After they had been officially welcomed to Kjanli'eyr, A'ros pointed out the way to the Black Sands before returning to Krinoth. He waved to them. "See ya. Call me 'n Krinoth if you need us. I'll see you at the hatching!" With that, the young rider signalled to his dragon, and they took off
between.
Iason rolled his eyes. "I think something screwed up in his head during the two years we were gone." He said to his sister.
Myriam giggled, glancing toward the black sands, and glimpsed another path beside it. "Hey, what did A'ros say that was?" She asked.
Iason looked where she was pointing, and shrugged. "I think he said something about abandoned dragons, why?"
Myriam blinked, disturbed. "Abandoned? But...riders don't abandon their dragons. They just...don't do that."
"Well, we are on a different planet. Maye it works differently here..." Iason answered. "Anyway, I'm gonna head over to the Black Sands, see the clutch we're standing for. Want to come?" He asked his older sister.
Myriam frowned. "No, not yet...I think I want to check out this abandoned area."
Iason shrugged. "Suit yourself."
Myriam watched her brother walk off, and headed to the place where these 'abandoned' dragons were...
It wasn't long before she came to a large, dimly lit cavern, where four large shapes lay clustered at the far end. Rainbow eyes glowed as the creatures-dragons, obviously-looked up at the intruder. Two of the dragons were green, another was blue, and the last one, which seemed to dwarf the other three with his size, showed a bronze hide.
Myriam hesitated upon entering the cavern. She wasn't entirely sure she was welcome here, the dragons radiated such anguish that even she could sense it, even though she had no bond. "Umm, pardon me..." She whispered.
One of the green dragons cocked her head.
It's okay. She almost seemed to purr, and she began to croon reassuringly. Come closer, it's been a long time since we've had a guest.
Blushing slightly, Myriam stepped toward the dragons cautiously. The bronze just looked away, his eyes swirling with red as he sulked. The other green looked away shyly, while the other two dragons, the blue and the green that had first spoken to her, watched the girl with interest.
The green dragon stretched, cat-like, and spread her wings wide. Myriam gasped in surprise. Instead of pale green wingsails, the female dragon had bright, deep blue wings. In fact, they quite reminded her of someone's eyes...Blushing furiously, she quickly put
that thought out of her mind.
The dragon seem pleased with the attention. The bronze dragon looked up to see what was going on.
Show off. He snorted.
Suddenly, the green-blue dragoness whirled, snarling at the other dragon.
Shut up, Vriendinth! She snarled.
The other green whimpered, covering her eyes with her wings.
Please stop fighting, you two...
The blue seemed to glare at the bronze and green-blue. N
ow look what you've done! You upset Zielieth. You should be ashamed of yourself, Careth. The green-blue dragoness sulked at her clutchmate's reprimand.
Sorry... She said finally.
Myriam giggled, causing all the dragons to stare at her. To be honest, she suspected they had quite forgotten she was there. Blushing faintly, she spoke up. "Were you really abandoned?" She asked, and instantly regretted it.
The bronze actually hissed at her, and the other three dragons' eyes began to whirl with either red or yellow. "Oh, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have-" Myriam began.
Don't worry, it's okay. Careth crooned reassuringly. Some of us just prefer not to think about our last bonds... She snorted. She didn't even bother to take care of me. Myriam knew she was talking about her last rider. I think she preferred that...#*@& gryphon over me, anyway.
Careth! Watch your language! It was the green dragon's turn to reprimand her sister.
Careth's eyes began to turn yellow, and she sighed.
Sorry...But she deserves it.
The blue and green rolled their eyes, while bronze Vriendinth seemed to agree with Careth.
"So, what are you all doing here?" Myriam asked.
Hmm? Careth said, suddenly surprisingly cheerful. Oh, I dunno. Just...hanging around, I suppose. We don't exactly have anywhere else to go. I guess we're sort of waiting for new riders, someone who'd actually want us.
Vriendinth snorted.
Speak for  yourself. He muttered, and Careth hissed at him, mostly playfully.
I'm not particularly picky. Careth said casually. I don't mind sharing...
Myriam couldn't believe what she was about to say next, but she plunged in nonetheless. "I'd like to bond a dragon. I wouldn't mind sharing. Er, that is, you wouldn't have to share me, Careth. Or-I mean..." She trailed off, blushing furiously as she lowered her gaze.
Careth seemed slightly surprised, and more than a little pleased.
You mean, you'd like to be my rider? She asked gently.
Myriam nodded, at a loss for words. "Like I said earlier, you wouldn't have to share me with anyone..."
Except maybe A'ros? The green-blue dragoness added mischeivously, causing Myriam to blush again.
"You'll always be first for me, Careth." She smiled, reassuring her new dragon.
Careth's eyes whirled more quickly, and she gently nuzzled the girl's arm.
Thanks...
Vriendinth chose this moment to interrupt.
Hey, Wrtyth. I smell lots of cheese, how about you?
Naw, though it does seem rather warm and fluffy in here, all of a sudden...The blue dragon answered, his 'voice' tinged with amusement. Both males snickered as Zielieth rolled her eyes, and Myriam and Careth glared at them.
