Peas and Carrots Chapter 8 We briefly introduced ourselves and soon were on our way to the Carter home. We rode there in a plain little car instead of a limo (which I thought we would've rode) so when we arrived at Nick's house, people wouldn't think we were him, but as we pulled up to the house, I noticed a swarm of girls lingering about the large fence that surrounded the Carter family house. "Boy, they've got some high security here," I whispered to my mom. "It's probably so these girls don't invade their house," Mom replied. "Yeah, most likely." As we pulled up to the driveway, the girls swarmed the car, even though they could clearly see through the non tinted wwindows that we were not Nick Carter. Eric, the guard, had to tell them to back off and stay away from the car. Most of them did what they were told, but others tried to sneak in when the gate was opened for us to go through. As we entered the yard, the gates closed, leaving the screaming mass of girls behind. As we got out of the vehicle, I took a look around the yard. It was fairly large-bigger than my yard back home in NY. The swarm of girls around the outside of the yard began to thin out finally. Eric lead us to the front door of the house. As we walked up the front steps, I noticed a flower garden off to the side of the house. Most of them were tulips, but there were a few daisies scattered throughout the tulips. Eric opened the door for us and we stipped inside. The house had a warm feeling-a family environment. "Kathy!" Jane exclaimed as she came around a corner, probably leading to the kitchen. "Jane! It's so good to see you again!" How are you?" my mom asked as they hugged. "Oh, I'm just great! It's good to se eyou, too! I can't believe how long it's been since we last saw each other!" Jane said, smiling. "I know, and it's really exciting for Andrea, I'm sure, since she and Nick haven't seen eachother in just as long," my mom said, nudging me forward to re-meet Jane. "Hi, nice to meet you again," I said as we briefly hugged. "I don't even remember you that much thoiugh, since I spent most of my time with Nick." "That' probably true, but I remember you, alright. You and Nick were so funny together." she said, smiling as she remembered. "You two were always running around everywhere as if you had drank 15 cups of coffee and 20 candy bars each. You guys were the little neighbourhood terrorists, but only because you were so loud." "Yeah, I remember that. It was so much fun back then when we were together," I said, yawning from exhaustion. "I'm sorry to stop this short, but I'm really tired and I need a shower, so could I be excused?" I asked, yawning again. "Why of course you can. Let me show you the guest room you'll be using and the bathroom," Jane said, heading up a set of stairs. I followed her, looking around the house. It was a very nice house, with pictures of Nick and his siters and borhter. I didn't remember meeting two of his siblings, and I didn't even know their names, but I did recognize B.J. since she was only a few years younger than Nick and I. Sometimes we'd let B.J. play along with us, but only if the games weren't too much for "big kids" like us. Those games included hide-n-seek and tag, since we needed more than 2 people in those games. As we were walking, I asked Jane, "Who are these two? I've never met them before," and pointed to the pictures of what looiked to be Nick's youngest siblings. "Oh, those are Nick's brother Aaron, and his twin sister, Angel," she explained. "Aaron's starting to take interest in music because of Nick. Aaron want to be just like Nick when he grows up. They get along really well." "That's cool. I bet Aaron's pretty excited about that, huh?" "Yeah, he seems to be having fun, and that's good, since he can't really go anywhere now that his brother's famous anymore." "Yeah, I bet that's hard for him," I said as Jane showed me my room and the bathroom. I took my bags and set them on the bed, looking for my bathroom supplies. I found them and headed to the shower with a change of clothes. After my shower I headed back to the guestroom and put all my clothes in the dresser drawers. We had arrived pretty late, and since it was nearing the end of summer, the sky started to darken. I took my pillow out of one of my travel bags since I can't stand to use any other pillow aside from my own. I drifted in and out of sleep all night long. I was so nervous and excited that I was going to see Nick again after all these years. |
