Lost Dreams Chapter 10 Kevin stared around the room they had just entered. It was huge and warm. That was what surprised him the most. It was warm there. He had the feeling they had gone underground and not just a few feet but they descended stairs for more than five minutes. Alec saw him stare and walked to him. 'Like our house?' He nodded. 'Where are we?' 'This is the old sewer system of Orlando.' Kevin's jaw dropped to the ground. 'You live in a sewer system?' Alec wanted to answer but a group of young children ran to her screaming: 'Alec, you promised us remember.' Alec smiled and hugged the kids. 'Yeah I remember.' She looked at Kevin. 'Do you want to help and put this lot in bed?' 'In bed?' Stuttered Kevin. Alec nodded. Kevin sighed and followed her to a different room. There were several cribs and a few bunkbeds in the room. 'Do they all sleep together?' Alec nodded. 'We are one big family here.' She put the little ones in the cribs and the other crawled into their beds. Kevin sat down on a chair and looked at her. 'Are you going to tell us a story?' Asked a little girl. 'Sure.' Alec sat down next to Kevin and closed her eyes. The whole room went silent. All the children closed their eyes and Kevin waited for Alec to start with the story. 'When are you going to start?' whispered Kevin. A few children started to giggle. 'Close your eyes Kevin.' He did what he was being told. ~ Can you hear me? ~ Asked Alec. Kevin opened his eyes. 'Yes I can.' 'Keep them closed.' Alec smiled at him and he closed his eyes again. ~ A long time ago America was different. ~ Kevin listened to her telling the story. He saw the pictures in his head the way she described them. A beautiful mansion, people in old-fashioned clothes, black servants. But then the story changed. He saw people with fear in their eyes and they started to run. He couldn't see why or from what they were running way. He saw a young girl, she looked at him. There was something odd about her. ~Are you still liking the story?~ He nodded. ~I can't see you nod Kevin~ The girl was there again but this time her eyes were red and her teeth were longer and sharper. 'Oh my god.' Said Kevin and he jumped up and walked out of the room. Alec slowly opened one eye and watched him go. ~Is he scared of you? ~ Alec kissed a young boy on his head. 'No he is not.' She softly whispered. The boy closed his eyes and fell asleep. Alec softly closed the door behind her and looked at her friends. Nina was telling Kevin a story and by the looks of it he did not like it very much. Kathy just had dinner and Jess was sitting in a corner nearly falling asleep. Alec smiled. ~What are you grinning about~ Alec turned around and saw Lisa. 'Where is Nick?' 'He saw the Nintendo set and he never laid an eye on me again.' Lisa said with a fake sad smile. 'I think we will have some fun tomorrow. I think we need to pay Aaron a little visit.'Next: Chapter 11 |
