Lost Dreams Chapter 19 AJ kneeled in front of Krystle’s grave. He had to talk to her. ‘I found him Krystle. I saw Howie walking down the street last night. He was with one of the girls from the club. He was happy.’ AJ felt a hand on his shoulder and turned his head. Kathy stood behind him. ‘Hi.’ AJ rose to his feet and hugged her. He got used to the fact she was always cold and that her heartbeat seemed to be missing. Kathy took his hand. ‘So you found Howie?’ AJ nodded. He had the feeling she knew more about him. ‘Kathy, do you know where he is?’ Kathy nodded. ‘He is one of us now. He gave up his mortal life to be with the woman he loved. Nina is really good for him.’ AJ couldn’t stop the tear rolling down his face. Kathy cupped his face. ‘You can do it too, AJ. You could spend eternity with me.’ AJ shook his head. ‘No, I can’t leave my friends and family. I couldn’t even if you were mortal.’ Kathy kissed his lips. ‘Please, AJ for me. Eternity.’ Whispered Kathy in his ear. AJ’s heart yelled yes but his head disagreed. AJ pushed Kathy away. ‘No, Kathy, please. If I have to make a choice you need to leave me alone.’ Kathy nodded. ‘I understand.’ She softly said. ‘You know where to find me.’ AJ watched her leave. ‘Oh Krys,’ he sighed. ‘What am I going to do?’Steph looked at Nick with pleading eyes. ‘Come Nick. He is your brother.’ ‘That is right. He is my brother. And why would I want to place my brother in a mental institute?’ Steph sighed. ‘He says he is meeting Hannah all the time. Hannah is dead. She went missing 11 years ago. He is going insane.’ Nick closed his eyes. Steph was right. Aaron was changing. He wasn’t the happy little lad he used to be. The nightmares came more frequently than before. ‘Nick?’ Nick looked at Steph. ‘Okay. When can we admit him?’ ‘I’ve arranged for a meeting tonight.’ Nick’s eyes grew big. ‘Tonight?’ Steph nodded. Nick got off the couch and walked upstairs. Aaron was sleeping. Nick frowned. He scooped his brother in his arms and walked downstairs. Steph was waiting at the door. Nick placed Aaron on the backseat and started the car. Steph read him the direction. Suddenly Nick hit the brakes. ‘Jesus Nick.’ Steph rubbed her forehead. ‘Was that necessary?’ Nick didn’t say anything. He just pointed at the group of people standing on the road. ‘Yeah so, honk and we can go on.’ Nick got out of the car. ‘Could you please move?’ He asked. A girl stepped forward. ‘Lisa?’ Nick said surprised. ‘We don’t want to hurt you Nick. We just want Aaron.’Next: Chapter 20 |
